Employment Contracts
Sometimes a worker has a contractual relationship with a company or government entity as its employee or independent contractor. The contract can be written or verbal. Stroud & Harper can assist a worker in analyzing a proposed contract, negotiating a contract or drafting a contract. Also, where a worker has been fired or otherwise harmed in a manner that violates the terms of an existing contract of employment, Stroud & Harper can assist the worker in evaluating a claim for breach of contract, negotiating the claim and suing for breach.
Employees who work at companies that issue employee handbooks, employee manuals, statements of policy/procedure or the like should be aware that there are occasions where the law will deem such documents as creating a contract that gives the employee certain rights with respect to termination, discipline, pay, benefits or other subjects addressed by the document.
